A summary of ¨The Magpies¨ by Dennis Grover.

This summary is of The Magpies by Dennis Grover. The goal was to summarise the poem in a minimum of 60 words and a maximum of 70 words.
Firstly Tom and Elizabeth bought a farm, used bracken for their bed. Secondly we get a description of how hard Tom worked and what colour Elizabeth’s lips were. The third part is about their years of work and the growing pine. The other parts are how all the crops went to the mortgage man, Tom’s gone insane because Elizabeth’s dead. Now the mortgage corporations can’t give the farm away.

The New Zealand Falcon

Attitude with altitude: New Zealand's birds of prey | RNZ
Picture from rnz.co.nz

  New Zealand Falcon.

The New Zealand Falcon ( also known as a Karerea) is New Zealand's only falcon while it's commonly mistaken for a common swamp harrier. Only 3000 - 5000 mating pairs are left in existence. The conservation status they put them under is near threatened but I personally believe that their more on the critical because of their numbers. The reason that their numbers are so low is because of farmers shooting them as their considered as pests by farmers.

This is a call from independent juvenile (chaffinches in  background)
